What are the BSR benefits?
Cost reduction resulting
from :
Faster and more cost effective development
of new information systems, through use of modeling techniques using data that has been
standardized based on
globally agreed semantics. (Having non-ambiguous
semantics in several languages, prevents discussion on
the meaning of terms prior to information exchanges).
Lower maintenance costs for existing
information systems.
- Without the BSR, common concepts are maintained in
several places, (higher administration costs, and also important risks on
administration quality).
- Specific concepts from a sector or a community
could also be administered in the BSR. So the administration costs will be
lowered, their visibility will be greater and they will have a "quality
label" if needed.
Fewer dictionaries to be maintained
through harmonization and alignment.
Use of the bridges between the semantic
units and their equivalence in existing directories to
link directories via a central approach versus one-to-one linking.
Linking of the semantic units with
standard code lists and representations to provide one
stop shopping on data look up.
