BSR benefits by area :

Electronic commerce and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange).

[Puce] The BSR is useful to all the actors of e-commerce and more generally e-business (including traditional EDI), at the national and international level.

[Puce]The BSR supports the semantic aspects. It non-ambiguously defines concepts that are used in the exchanges.

[Puce]For organizing the "back office" (B to B relationship), even for people using established EDI syntaxes such as EDIFACT, it is very important to use well defined semantics, shared by many people and linked with existing EDI dictionaries, in order to facilitate their automatic treatments.

[Puce]The BSR is more precise than usual data dictionaries (UN EDIFACT for example) and so people no longer need to meet and discuss the meaning of terms prior to establishing a new electronic relationship between themselves.

[Puce]The BSR implementation process is also helpful for "review" and improvement of the content of different dictionaries by their authors.

[Puce]Identification of BSR concepts by number (independent of any criteria) facilitates their integration and use in EDI and e-commerce applications.

[Puce]Reuse of existing data (and even whole messages, templates, web forms…) is eased by the BSR functionality of identifying bridges and more generously, relationships between information from various sectors and origins.
